PORTLAND, Ore. – After posting an undefeated regular season record and a 12-1 overall mark last spring, the College of Idaho has been installed as the narrow favorite in Division II of the Pacific Northwest Collegiate Lacrosse League (PNCLL).

The Yotes, which led the way with 128 points and seven first place votes, edged out the University of Montana.

“We’re excited for the 2018 season and we have a great freshman class that will give us depth at every position,” said College of Idaho coach Matt Gier. “There has been an unprecedented amount of focus at our fall practices in preparation for this spring. The team is hungry for the PNCLL D2 championship and a trip to the national tournament.”

The Grizzlies (13-6) handed College of Idaho its only loss of the season in the conference championship game, garnering 124 points and four first place votes.

Southern Oregon (8-5), the 2016 PNCLL Division II champs, was slotted at third while the University of Providence (10-4) – formerly Great Falls – fills out the top four of the 12-team league.

The semifinals and finals of the PNCLL Division II tournament will be held on April 27-29 at Lake Oswego (Ore.) High School with Oregon and Oregon State acting as tournament co-hosts.
