ATLANTA – With a 3-0 weekend against ranked competition, St. Thomas has assumed the No. 1 ranking in the Under Armour MCLA Division II Coaches Poll, which was released on Wednesday. The Tommies replace defending national champion Dayton, which suffered its first two losses of the season.
St. Thomas leapfrogs Concordia-Irvine for pole position. CUI grabbed more first place votes – 12 to 11 – than the Tommies, but were clearly impacted by some down-ballot voting. The Eagles remained in second place, seven points ahead of North Dakota State. The Bison grabbed the remaining first place vote.
Kennesaw State bumped up to No. 4, followed by Dayton to round out the Top 5.
There were no changes in the Top 25 participants this week, although Western Washington continues its descent. The Vikings have now dropped 14 spots in the past two weeks, and sit in the final chair.
