Tulane’s Farnan Grabs PEARL Accolade

ATLANTA – After leading the Green Wave to a three-game sweep in the first of two visits to Fort Payne, Ala., Tulane junior netminder Conor Farnan is the MCLA Division II PEARL Goalie of the Week for the period ending March 16.

The Green Wave opened action on Saturday with a double-header against Bridgewater State and No. 16 Montana. The Westhampton, N.Y., product made 18 saves in the 15-11 win over the Bears followed by 20 more stops in a 10-8 triumph over the Grizzlies.

Tulane capped off the weekend with a 15-13 victory over UNC-Wilmington in which Farnan blocked another 19 shots.

For the trip, Farnan finished with 57 saves and a cumulative 64.1 save percentage in a 3-0 stretch. The Green Wave return to Fort Payne this weekend where they will face No. 6 UNC-Charlotte and No. 3 Florida Atlantic.

“Conor showed why he earned that preseason All-American ranking with three phenomenal performances this past weekend,” said Tulane coach Justin Baker. “He played a large part in helping us keep control of each game.

“Conor is the captain of this team and the backbone of our defense. He shows up for every game, in any situation, with high energy and a will to win. He is a great asset to our program, and we’re lucky to have him.”

As the recipient of the PEARL Goalie of the Week honor, Farnan will receive a PEARL swag bag of goodies that will include PEARL lacrosse balls – the official ball of the MCLA.

The junior turned away 13 shots to lead the Spartans to 9-5 conference win over UC Santa Cruz.

Jacob Wong, College of Idaho
In a 2-0 weekend for the Yotes, he amassed 31 saves against just 11 goals against (73.8 sv%).
