TCU’S Schubert Named Goalie of Week

ATLANTA – After helping Texas Christian pull off a shocker on its West Coast trip, freshman backstop Carter Schubert has earned MCLA Division I PEARL Goalie of the Week honors for the period ending April 3.

The Horned Frogs were capping off their three-game swing to SoCal by facing off against No. 16 Chapman. The Allen, Texas, native finished with 20 saves as TCU stunned the Cougars, 16-15, in overtime.

On the 2-1 trip that featured a loss to No. 2 Concordia-Irvine and a win against Cal State San Marcos, Schaubert combined for 53 saves and 35 goals against for a save percentage of 60.2.

“Carter Schubert has anchored our LSA-leading defense and kept us in the tough games long enough for us to close out some very tough-fought games,” said Texas Christian coach Mark Purcell. “Carter is a warrior.”

For earning the PEARL’s Goalie of the Week, Schubert will receive a prize package from Guardian PEARL, a ball that lasts longer than the rest and never greases. Guardian PEARL is the proud partner of the MCLA.

Pearl Honor Roll

Sam Bellomy, Fr. – Northeastern
The Huskies picked up wins against NC State and Temple, aided by a combined 27 saves against 14 goals against from the Hingham, Mass., native.

Matt Padilla, Soph. – Dominican
The Penguins picked up their first conference win against Nevada thank to 17 saves from the player from Puyallup, Wash.

Gino Pagliaro, Sr. – Georgia Tech
The Jackets posted another two victories thanks to a combined 22 saves and a pair of ground balls from the Sandy Hook, Conn., product.

Kevin Shvodian, Fr. – UC Santa Barbara
The Menlo Park, Calif., product made 17 saves helping the Gauchos upend No. 10 Santa Clara for a clutch win.

Brayden Webb, Jr. – Purdue
The Boilermakers fell to Michigan State in overtime, but through no fault of the North Tustin, Calif.., native who finished with 20 stops.
