ORANGE, Calif. -- Top-ranked Chapman outscored No. 13 Stanford 8-3 in the second half, allowing the Panthers (10-0) to rally from a 5-1 halftime deficit and beat the Cardinal (6-2) on Sunday night.

Stanford jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Tucker Albright and Eric Lee, and the Cardinal were still up, 3-1 heading into the second frame. Albright fed Matt Klein for an easy finish before Albright picked up a loose ball near the front of the cage and buried it for the 5-1 halftime bulge.

Chapman quickly swung the momentum at the opening of the second half, rattling off five unanswered markers. Steve Koressel had a pair of goals in the comeback, including a man-down strike to start the skein. It looked like the Panthers might take that lead into the final stanza, but Hunter Irvin struck for a pair of goals in the final 25 seconds of the third to give Stanford a 7-6 advantage to open the fourth.

The Cardinal lead expanded to 8-6 before the Panthers exploded for three goals to end the contest, with the game-winner coming off the stick of Nevin Masri.

Dylan Garner led the way for Chapman with two goals and three assists while Koressel added a hat trick. Gus Gradinger turned away eight shots to pick up the win. Unofficially, Albright (2g, 2a) paced the Cardinal.

Chapman is off until this weekend when they travel to face No. 11 Oregon and No. 14 Oregon State. Stanford meets No. 22 San Diego State on Tuesday.
