NEW HAVEN, CT— On Wednesday night, Southern Connecticut State took on the Central Connecticut State in a game that had huge play off implications, and it was SCSU that took the victory in overtime, 11-10. The Owls now lock up the top spot in the PCLL-II South.

Coming off back-to-back wins, including a triple overtime thriller, the Owls came into the game confident and battle tested.

For the second time in four days the Owls were able to walk away from Jess Dow Field with an overtime victory. The game was hard fought by both teams and was a thriller right up to the final whistle.

Terrance Desances netted the game winner on an outside shot that stung the top corner. Ryan Davis (4g, 1a) and Kevin Faughnan (1g, 5a) lead the way on offense with help from a great supporting cast.

Defensively, the Owls locked it down with the help of a huge 19 save game by goalie Bobby Noonan. Nick Sneider held it down at the faceoff X, winning 11-of-24 against a very talented specialist from CCSU.

With the win over Central Connecticut (11-10), SUNY Purchase (16-5) and University of New Haven (14-13), the Owls clinched their first ever number one seed and first round bye in the PCLL tournament.

The Owls look to continue their winning ways at 8pm on Friday at Stonehill.
