INCLINE VILLAGE, NV - The Eagles remain atop the WCLL standings after dispatching two conference opponents this weekend in a pair of rain-soaked contests.

On Saturday evening, SNC shut out San Francisco, 18-0. On Sunday, it was a back and forth battle with St. Mary's College before the Eagles went on a late, four-goal run to dispatch the Gaels, 6-3.

Pacing the offense over the weekend was Eagle attackman Nic Zvirzin, who netted eight goals over the two games. Danny Dubyak was also a significant contributor, accounting for four goals and two assists.

Despite battling the elements, the Eagle defense continued their stout play. Saturday evening's shutout was the first ever in Sierra Nevada's program history. Long-stick middie Jack Witt continues to prove he's among the top players at his position with 13 ground balls. Witt's total in only six games this season stands at 47.

"Mother Nature threw an additional challenge at us this weekend. Often times, she is the ultimate equalizer. I am proud of how our team responded late in the Sunday's game to solidify the win," said Eagle coach Matt Blamey. "With eight total games in March, our schedule is aggressive. We are asking a lot of our guys. Fortunately, we have a tough group of young men."

The Eagles will travel to Oregon this Friday for another doubleheader weekend against Portland and Southern Oregon. There is no rest of the weary. After the road trip, SNC will only have two days off prior to hosting No. 19 San Diego in the first home game of the season. The slew of games will culminate two days later as SNC travels to conference rival UC Santa Cruz on Saturday, March 26.
