SAN FRANCISCO – After capturing the last three Western Collegiate Lacrosse League (WCLL) Division II crowns, Sierra Nevada has been tabbed the preseason favorite to win a fourth.
The Eagles (12-4) swept all of the first place votes, which is unsurprising considering Sierra Nevada has never lost a conference game in its four seasons in the WCLL.
With Matt Blamey leaving SNC to take the head coaching job at Arizona, former assistant Matt Day will be tasked with continuing the Eagles’ success.
UC Santa Cruz (12-4) is slotted in second, just ahead of last year’s runner-up, UC Davis (7-8). The Banana Slugs and Aggies split last year, with Davis downing Santa Cruz in the WCLL semifinals, 10-7.
Humboldt State (4-6) rounds out the top four.
