ATLANTA – After leading Purdue to a pair of wins, including an important conference victory, Boilermaker sophomore attackman Jared Meltzner is the MCLA Division I Warrior Player of the Week for the period ending April 9.

Purdue opened the week against Illinois on Friday and the Littleton, Colo., product came ready to play. He potted a pair of goals and set up three others as the Boilermakers pulled out the 11-10 victory.

The following day against conference foe Miami (Ohio), Meltzner dropped six goals as Purdue posted a 16-10 triumph.

For the weekend, Meltzner amassed eight goals and three assists, which put him over the 100-point plateau for his career.

"Jared has been critical to our offense these past two years,” said Purdue coach Dan Sahm. “He stepped in last year as a freshman, and made an impact, becoming one of our starting attackmen and hasn't lost his stride.

“He had surgery after last season that sat him out for majority of the fall, but that didn’t prevent him from putting in the work in his free time. He’s very tough and competitive, and will do everything needed to help the team win.

“It’s great that he’s getting the recognition he deserves for all of the hard work that he’s put in, and I’m glad to see that it’s paying off.”

For his efforts earning the Warrior Player of the Week, Meltzner will receive a Warrior EVO QX-O – a $100 value – for his efforts. Warrior is a proud sponsor of the MCLA.
