ATLANTA – After leading their respective teams to dominating performances during the month, Montana State sophomore attackman Liam Prescott and Arizona State senior attackman Braden Rome have been named the MCLA April Player of the Month presented by Lacrosse Specialties.

Prescott helped guide the Bobcats to a perfect 6-0 April, culminating with the RMLC title and an automatic bid to the 2025 MCLA National Championships presented by New Balance where they will be the defending champs. Five of the six victories came against ranked teams.

In the sextet of wins, the Hampstead, N.H., native amassed 17 goals along with 14 assists. In the two victories in the RMLC tournament, he put up 10 goals and four assists, including an eight-point (6g, 2a) performance against No. 10 Utah State in the title tilt.

“Liam has come a long way this year, taking over a lot of the leadership of our offense with obviously the points, but also scripting and really quarterbacking our offense,” said Montana State coach Chris Kelley.

“Big games in some payback wins during the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference championship against tournament-bound teams was a nice feather in his cap to bring April to an end. We’re excited to get back to Texas and see what he can bring along with a supporting cast of very hungry players.”

Rome was instrumental in leading the Sun Devils to a 6-0 April that produced the first SLC title for Arizona State in over a decade. In the undefeated month, Rome scored 18 goals and set up nine others, good for 27 points.

The Novato, Calif., product was recently named the SLC Offensive Player of the Year for his efforts and will lead the Sun Devils to the nationals in Round Rock, Texas, where they have a first-round date with Florida State.

“Rome was instrumental in our success throughout the month of April,” said Arizona State coach Justin Straker. “He’s one of many impactful seniors on this team who helped extend our win streak to 10 games and secure our first SLC Championship since 2014.

“Romer’s impact extends well beyond the statistics. While his athleticism, vision and leadership are all undeniable, his unselfish approach to the sport truly sets him apart. Braden will always prioritize team success over personal accolades.

“What makes this honor even more deserving is Braden’s unwavering humility. Despite being the SLC’s Offensive Player of the Year, he never seeks the spotlight. He leads by example, carrying himself with quiet confidence and respect for everyone around him. He’s the kind of player that every coach dreams of having on their team.”

For being named the Player of the Month, both Prescott and Rome will receive a personal plaque compliments of Lacrosse Specialties, the preferred awards provider of the MCLA.
