ATLANTA – The Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA), the preeminent non-varsity league in the country, is excited to announce that Pearl by Guardian will be sponsoring a weekly award during the 2019 season.

Each Tuesday this spring, an MCLA student-athlete in each division will earn the “Pearl’s Goalie of the Week” award for his outstanding work in the crease for his respective team.

“We are thrilled to continue and expand our partnership with MCLA by recognizing the top performing goalie of the week,” said Erin Hanson, founder and owner of Guardian. “Far too often, goalies don’t get the recognition they deserve, and we are excited to change that!”

Pearl lacrosse balls are made in the USA with a superior material that lasts longer and never greases. That’s why we offer a grease-free guarantee.

The winner of Pearl’s Goalie of the Week honor will receive a variety pack of Pearl balls – the official ball of the MCLA – along with a Pearl t-shirt. The winner will also receive national recognition for his accomplishments.

“Having an award dedicated to the many outstanding goalies in the MCLA is a welcome addition this year,” said MCLA president Ken Lovic. “We’re grateful that the Pearl team has stepped up to make it a reality.”

Nominations for the weekly award, which will run 15 weeks from Jan. 29 through the 2019 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour, will be accepted from head coaches by Monday morning.

The recipients of the honor, who will be judged on statistics and quality of opponent, will be announced on Tuesdays.
