ATLANTA – After leading the Hurricanes to a solid 1-1 weekend, Miami junior netminder Ramsey Morris is the MCLA Division II PEARL Goalie of the Week for the period ending Feb. 26.
Miami opened the weekend with a clash against a solid Georgia Southern outfit and thanks to 15 stops from the Richmond, Va., native, the Hurricanes posted a 12-6 triumph.
The following day against Division I No. 3 Florida State, Miami took the loss, but Morris was still impressive, making 18 more saves.
“Ramsey entered the season in a battle for the top goalie spot, competing with several returning players,” said Miami coach Bryan Walsh. “After being named a team captain earlier in the week and shutting down a good Georgia Southern offense and stopping 18 shots against third-ranked Florida State, Ramsey solidified himself as the first goalie on the depth chart and a leader of the defense.
“His play on the field and leadership off has been invaluable to the coaching staff and his teammates."
For earning the PEARL’s Goalie of the Week, Morris will receive a prize package from Guardian PEARL, a ball that lasts longer than the rest and never greases. Guardian PEARL is the proud partner of the MCLA.
