SPARKS, Md. - After posting outstanding performances for their respective teams during February, South Carolina’s Derek Isaac and Baylor’s Trey Cambere have been named the US Lacrosse MCLA Players of the Month.

Isaac has been instrumental in helping the Gamecocks go from unranked to No. 11 in the country with his play at the faceoff position. In the seven South Carolina wins in February, the Highland, Md., product won 55-of-72 face offs, a 76.4 percentage. In addition, he collected 13 ground balls and scored a goal in the win over Texas Tech.

“Derek's win percentage speaks for itself, but I'm most proud of the adroit poise and enthusiastic work ethic he has brought to the table in his freshman campaign," said South Carolina coach James Harkey.

Cambere had a prolific scoring month for Baylor, with 41 goals and 19 assists in eight games for a staggering 7.50 points-per-game during the Bears’ 6-2 run. He twice broke the 10-point barrier during the month and posted at least three goals in every game.

“Trey’s senior leadership has brought a swagger to Baylor ball and his teammates have fully bought into it,” said Baylor coach Mike McAdams of the Flower Mound, Texas, product. “We have a promising group of freshmen and Trey has been a great role model for them this year.”

For their efforts, both Isaac and Cambere will receive a one-year membership to US Lacrosse, the national governing body of the sport. Membership includes on-the-field insurance coverage, discounted tickets and apparel, along with a subscription to US Lacrosse Magazine.
