EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State Men’s Lacrosse team is excited to announce its recent hire of National Lacrosse League and Major League Lacrosse standout Cameron Holding as the team’s new head coach.

Originally from Canada, Holding grew up in nearby DeWitt, Mich., and has done much to grow the game in the Mid-Michigan area. As director and founder of the youth club Power Play Lacrosse based out of Lansing, Holding is familiar with East Lansing and brings a lot of new things to the program.

“I couldn’t be more excited about joining the Michigan State lacrosse family. I’m very grateful for the opportunity and look forward to hitting the ground running with a program that is already well established and has a great lacrosse history.”

As a member of the NLL’s Colorado Mammoth and the MLL’s Denver Outlaws, Holding has quickly climbed the ranks as a professional player. After two seasons as a consistent contributor to the Mammoth on defense and transition, Holding was drafted second overall in the MLL draft, and was quickly traded to the Outlaws to compete in Denver year-round. Holding was also a key contributor to the gold medal winning Team Canada in 2014′s FIL World Championships, where he recorded a goal and assist in the championship game against the United States.

Holding starred for both the Grand Valley State program along with Florida Southern during his college career.

Holding brings to the MSU program enthusiasm, a great work ethic, a wide network in the lacrosse world and a vast knowledge of the game.
