JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Georgia Tech outscored South Carolina, 6-1, in the final quarter of the SELC Division I championship game, rallying the Yellow Jackets for a 10-7 victory over the Gamecocks at the Bolles School on Saturday afternoon.
With the victory, Georgia Tech (14-3) automatically qualifies for the 2023 MCLA National Championships presented by New Balance, which will be held at the Round Rock (Texas) Multipurpose Complex from May 8-13.
The game started out slow with neither team able to get any separation. At the half, the game was knotted at three apiece – an odd opening for a pair of very capable offenses.
Still tied midway through the third, South Carolina (8-9) finally found a tiny bit of separation, building a 6-4 advantage heading into the final frame.
It was also Jackets from there. Brooks Baro amassed a hat trick in the final 15 minutes alone as Tech grabbed the hardware.
