SFU’s Lashar Has D-I Top Performance

ATLANTA – On the strength of a 20-save performance in one of the biggest upsets of the week, Simon Fraser junior goalie Jeremy Lashar has earned the MCLA Division I Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour for the period ending March 20.

With No. 15 Sonoma State over the border looking for a sweep of the Pacific Northwest, Lashar closed the door with his 20 stops. He made an astounding 10 saves in the final quarter when the Seawolves were making their big push, but the Clansmen pulled off the 12-9 upset.

Earlier in the week, Lashar made 11 stops in a 13-6 victory over Chico State.

“Jeremy is the type of goaltender that will do whatever it takes to stop the ball,” said Fraser coach Brent Hoskins. “He has worked very hard at the college level to become technically sound, but when the game is on the line, he is still adept at just getting his body in front of a shot if that is what it takes to keep the ball out of the net. His fearlessness in the crease can make it real tough on the opposing shooters, but it is also something that our team feeds off, especially in close games.”

For his efforts in earning the Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour, Lashar will receive a new Under Armour Command Head. Under Armour is the proud sponsor of the MCLA.

UNDER ARMOUR HONOR ROLL

John Finegan, Fr., Oregon – The Ducks pushed their win streak to three thanks to a weekend sweep of Nevada and Santa Clara. Finegan posted 11 goals and five assists in the two victories.

Dylan Garner, Soph., Chapman – It looked like top-ranked Chapman was ticketed for its first loss of the season to Stanford, but Garner’s two goals and three assists made sure the Panthers stayed unblemished.

Bryan Larocque, Soph., Davenport – In a 12-11 win over No. 19 Michigan State, Larocque scored five goals and set up a sixth. Against Toledo, he set the program record with 12 goals (along with two dimes).

Brad Lindsay, Sr., Colorado State – Tasked with covering one of Sonoma State’s top attackman, Lindsay held his matchup to zero points, caused two turnovers and allowed the Rams to post a 7-6 victory.

Brendan Maloney, Sr., New Hampshire – The Wildcats went 2-1 on their trip to Utah, including an upset win over No. 21 Utah Valley, helped by Maloney’s five goals and four assists over that span.
