ATLANTA – After rolling to the grand prize at the 2017 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour, Grand Canyon has finished atop the final Under Armour MCLA Division I weekly coaches poll.
The Lopes, which finished the season on a 13-game winning streak, garnered 21 of the 22 first place votes, ceding one first place vote to Chapman, which lost to Grand Canyon in the final, 12-8.
Semifinalists California and Georgia Tech were slotted in the No. 3 and No. 4 spots, respectively, although the two teams were separated by just one point. Colorado rounded out the Top 5.
After receiving just one vote in the final regular season poll, Southern Methodist jumped into a tie at No. 20 with Lone Star Alliance rival Texas. The Mustangs arrival pushed UNLV out of the final ranking.
