SAN DIEGO – The Biggest Little State in the union is sending its squad to San Diego in hopes of advancing to the virtual second round of the 2020 MCLA Virtual Tournament.

One of the secrets of Division II is the play of URI senior netminder John Joseph, who has proven he is one of the better netminders in the country.

Sophomore Charlie White leads a powerful offensive unit along with junior Brett Dolan and rookie Anthony Guarino.

“We stepped up our game this year and this is where we pay it off,” said Rhode Island coach Larry Madeira. “UCSD is a very good team, but the beach sounds pretty nice right now.”

Albert Man had a strong team last year, but this year’s version appears to be a step up.

The defense has leveled up this year led by senior Matteo Liebman and Jacinto Tamez while the addition of New Jersey freshman Cameron Parsa at long-stick midfield as tightened the crew up.

Junior midfielder Grant Barclay paces a methodical offense.

“Our guys have been playing fast and smart this spring,” said Man, who is in 11th season with the Tritons. “We’re not good enough to overlook anyone, so we’ll prepare our best for Rhode Island.”
