ATLANTA – A pair of comfortable regional wins was good enough to keep Rhode Island easily in the top spot of the MCLA Division II New Balance Weekly Coaches Poll, which was released on March 29.
The Rams (8-1) punished Stonehill and Central Connecticut State by a combined scored of 35-11 to stick at No. 1. Rhode Island did lose a pair of first-place votes, only garnering 25 of the 27 cast.
St. Thomas (2-1), which is prepping to come off its month-long hiatus, remains at No. 2. The Tommies will have to contend with No. 5 Missouri State (4-0) and No. 9 Grand Valley State (5-1) on the road this weekend.
Cal State San Marcos (6-1) jumped four spots to No. 3 this period after downing now-No. 6 Montana (10-2). The Cougars grabbed the remaining pair of first-place votes.
Montana State (7-1) hammered a pair of RMLC opponents to continue in the fourth chair.
There were no new teams in the poll this week.
