OREM, Utah – These two were scheduled to meet on April 16 on Clyde Field in a league contest of the newly reshaped Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference (RMLC).

Texas, along with Oklahoma, were slated to be a part of the conference this year, returning the RMLC to automatic qualifying status.

Guess we’ll kick off this rivalry for real next year.

Now the Wolverines and Longhorns will meet at a virtual venue with a trip to the quarterfinals at stake.

No. 28 Texas pulled one of the bigger upsets of the first round, grabbing 494-of-950 votes to topple No. 5 Cal – one of the pre-tournament favorites – by four percentage points.

No. 12 Utah Valley had an even a narrower result, taking 680 of the 1,322 votes cast to post a win over No. 21 Virginia Tech by a scant 2.8 percentage points.

Are we in for another close one or is one team ready to break out in the second round?
