ATLANTA – While they lost a first-place vote and had their overall margin narrowed, Brigham Young has comfortably held on to the top spot in the MCLA Division I New Balance Weekly Coaches poll, which was released on Wednesday.

The Cougars (9-0) pushed their undefeated streak to 28 games with a weekend sweep of Nevada and Santa Clara in which they outscored the two by a combined 40-13. BYU finished with 26 of the 27 first-place votes.

Cal Poly (8-0) moved into the second chair this week after fending off a game Cal outfit and sit just 30 points behind Brigham Young. Liberty (6-1) jumped up three spots to No. 3 after defeating No. 4 Northeastern (6-1) over the weekend. The Flames absconded with the remaining first-place tally.

Despite a split weekend in SoCal where they lost to No. 12 UC Santa Barbara (6-3) and defeated No. 9 San Diego State (8-2), Utah Valley (5-2) remains in the No. 5 position.

Texas (5-2) was the biggest mover this week, jumping four spots up to No. 7. There were no new additions or departures to the Top 20 this session.
