BYU’s Moon Named Goalie of Week

ATLANTA – After leading Brigham Young to a pair of wins – including a Top 3 victory – Cougars senior netminder Mason Moon is the MCLA Division I PEARL Goalie of the Week for the period ending April 10.

The week started on Friday night/Saturday morning when Brigham Young participated in Liberty’s annual Midnight Madness game. Thanks to 18 saves from the Frisco, Texas, kid, the Cougars were able to post a 12-11 victory over the third-ranked Flames.

The following day, BYU went up against an underrated NC State outfit and again Moon was solid, making 14 saves in an 11-8 triumph.

For the weekend, Moon turned away 32 shots while allow just 19 goals – a save percentage of 62.7.

"Mason is one of the premier goalies in the country and the anchor of our defense," said Brigham Young coach Matt Schneck. "He is loved by his teammates for the tremendous player he is on the field, and the even better friend off the field.

"The experiences and lessons that have been learned because of his fortitude and dedication have helped all of us strive for excellence."

For earning the PEARL’s Goalie of the Week, Moon will receive a prize package from Guardian PEARL, a ball that lasts longer than the rest and never greases. Guardian PEARL is the proud partner of the MCLA.

Pearl Honor Roll

Sam Bellomy, Fr. – Northeastern
The Hingham, Mass., product made 20 saves in a narrow two-goal loss to Georgia Tech, keeping the Huskies in the game.

Matt Corazon, Sr. – Florida
The Miami product turned away 15 of the 22 shots that came his way, helping the Gators beat FSU and snag the SELC South top seed.

Jack Courington, Sr. – Minnesota
The Eagan, Minn., native had 34 total saves in wins over Michigan State and Colorado State, allowing just 19 goals (64.2 sv%).

Gino Pagliaro, Sr. – Georgia Tech
The Jackets took the broom to UNH and Northeastern in the Hub, thanks to a combined 35 saves from the Sandy Hook, Conn., product.

Dylan Radke, Jr. – Missouri
The Tigers took another step toward the top seed in the LSA North with a clutch win over Oklahoma. The St. Louis kid had 14 saves in a 12-7 victory.

Tyler Schweickert, Sr. – Concordia-Irvine
The Eagles stifled Arizona thanks to a solid performance from the Tustin, Calif., product. He made 16 saves in the 8-6 triumph.
