DENVER – Despite finishing second in the regular season and as the runner-up in the conference tournament, Brigham Young has been installed as the favorite in Division I of the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference (RMLC), according to the preseason coaches poll.

The Cougars (14-7), which advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2023 MCLA National Championships presented by New Balance, finished with three of the six first-place votes.

Defending conference champion Utah Valley (16-3) was placed second, five points behind BYU. The Wolverines, which also finished with three top votes, defeated the Cougars, 14-13, in the RMLC finals to earn an automatic berth to nationals.

Checking in third is Colorado State (5-9). The Rams lost in the conference semifinals to Utah Valley and their only conference victory came against Utah (6-7). The Utes, which won the Division II national championship in 2022, were stationed fourth in the sixth-team league.

Colorado (6-7) was slotted fifth while RMLC-I newcomer Utah Tech (6-6 in Division II) closes out the poll.
