PHOENIX -- No. 13 Boston College took a 7-5 lead at intermission and led by as many as five in the second half as the Eagles picked up a critical road win against defending champion Grand Canyon on Friday night, 13-11. It was BC's (2-1) second ranked win of the season after knocking off No. 17 Liberty two weeks ago.

The seventh-ranked Lopes (2-3) jumped out to a 2-0 lead at the start of the game, but Reed Spencer trimmed the margin shortly afterwards, sparking an Eagle run. With Griffin Carney controlling the faceoff dot, BC outscored the Lopes 6-3 the rest of the half.

Boston College opened the second half with three unanswered goals to balloon the lead to 10-5. The Eagles still led 11-6 heading into the final quarter. The champs made a late push, but could get no closer than two the rest of the way.

Lawson Pisani paced BC with a hat trick while Dan Trompeter, Gerard Quinn and Nick Stiker each added a pair of markers.

The win was a big one for Boston College, but now the Eagles have to face a rested Arizona squad, ranked No. 8 in the country, at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
