BROOKLINE, Mass. – Boston College shrugged off an early deficit and pulled away late to defeat Northeastern and win the Pioneer Collegiate Lacrosse League (PCLL) Division I championship on Sunday afternoon.

With the victory, the Eagles (10-4) earn an automatic qualifying berth to the 2018 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour, which takes place in Salt Lake City from May 7-12.

Early in the second quarter, Northeastern (7-5) built its biggest lead of the game at 5-2.

Still trailing 6-3 midway through the second frame, the Eagles rattled off three straight, capped by a David Hincks goal with 23 ticks left to tie the game.

Tied for much of the third period at six apiece, Boston College goalie Mike O’Keeffe sent a field-length pass with time running out and Spencer Bromley converted with seven seconds left to give the Eagles a lead they would never lose.

This will be Boston College’s 11th trip to nationals, with the last one coming in 2016. Northeastern will learn its at-large fate on tonight.

The MCLA Selection Committee will release the participants and matchups this evening. Check MCLA.us for all your championship information.
