No. 8 Boston College’s defense was outstanding this past weekend as the Eagles defeated No. 17 UConn, 9-4, and Texas A&M, 16-5.

“We witnessed three seasons in 48 hours” said Boston College coach Peter Sessa. “It was 70 degrees during practice Friday night, 39 with sleet and rain on Saturday and three inches of snow on Sunday.”

Saturday’s league matchup featured undefeated UConn hosting BC. The Huskies raced out to an early lead when sophomore Brian Whooley scored a textbook transition goal in the first minute of the game. BC answered with four goals, grabbing a 4-3 halftime lead. The second half saw BC score quickly and never trail, holding UConn to a goal in the last two quarters.

“Anytime you have 8 different goal scorers, you know the team message is getting across," Sessa said. "Add to that your senior goalie [Mike Shephard] making 16 saves and you have a recipe for success ”.

Sophomore Kevin Sheridan paced Boston College with two goals.

Sundays game versus Texas A&M saw BC score on it’s first three possessions, taking a 12-1 lead into the second half. Six Boston College players had two or more points in the contest.

BC continued its dominance at X, winning 34-of-39 faceoffs in the two contests.

The Eagles (6-2, 2-0) travel to Baltimore this weekend to play No. 16 Florida State on Friday at 5 p.m. and No. 14 Virginia Tech on Saturday at 1 p.m.. All games will take place at Cedar Lane Park in Bel Air. Md.
