ATLANTA – After leading the Sun Devils to three victories – including a pair of ranked triumphs – Arizona State junior defender Aidan Cox has been tabbed the MCLA Division I Warrior Player of the Week for the period ending March 30.
The Sun Devils swept No. 14 UC Santa Barbara, perennial conference heavyweight Chapman and No. 8 San Diego State in large part to the lockdown defense of the Dallas, Texas, product.
Against the three opponents, Cox amassed 10 ground balls and seven caused turnovers while typically going head-to-head with the opposition's top offensive threat.
“It’s easy for us to look at Aidan Cox and say he’s one of the best in the country because of how he impacts each game,” said Arizona State coach Justin Straker. “But it’s the detail-oriented approach he brings on a daily basis that helps build the foundation for our team's success.
“Aidan never flinches at competition. From day one his freshman year, he’s never made anything about himself. He’s as unselfish and as genuine a person you’ll meet. Our coaching staff says it all the time, but what people get to see on game day, we get to see every day in practice. That’s just who he is.
“This past week’s performances were simply a culmination of what Aidan has been building in his game all year.”
For his efforts earning the Warrior Player of the Week, Cox will receive a Warrior Burn XP2-D head – a $120 value. Warrior is a proud sponsor of the MCLA.
